Green tomatoes

I was listening to Wildrose Country on CBC 1 yesterday afternoon, and heard some good garden tips. The gardening expert said that if you have too many green tomatoes (which everyone in Calgary has this year..) you can ripen them by pulling up the plant and hanging them in the basement, and allowing the tomatoes to ripen on the vine. I'm going to have to give that a try. Our red to green tomato ratio is probably ten to one at the moment. Once I have some ripe ones I think I'm going to try this recipe for Caramelized Tomato Tarte Tatin.
